Standing Invitation
A few weeks ago, I was sitting around with some of my fellow SaaS app founder friends, talking about the future of our community, and what we wanted to see for it in the future. When it was my turn to speak, I said something to the effect of “I wish that there was an easier way for me to help others who are behind me with their businesses”.
Instead of waiting for that to happen, I’ve decided to try to do something about it, in my own way. I’ve always had a policy where I’ve been happy to help others who’ve emailed me with business questions, but I haven’t done a great job of putting that out into the world. Today, I’m doing something about it.
Who am I? I’m a programmer at heart. I’m fluent in quite a few languages, but most things that I’ve built recently have been with Ruby on Rails, which I’ve been using since 2006. I’ve always loved to build things. Lately I’ve been more focused on building things that provide real value that businesses are happy to pay me for. I love chicken and waffles and great burgers (flat-top, not grilled).
What have I done? In the past 15 years, I’ve built a few successful SaaS apps, and make enough money from them to not have to work full-time for anyone anymore.
They are: Stunning (Helps subscription businesses to recover more failed payments for their Stripe subscriptions, among many other things) Are My Sites Up (Simple website monitoring) Dispatch (The best email parser for sales leads)
I’m @rfelix on Twitter.
I love getting email from people who I can help. Email me at any time, but just make sure that you get to the point without me having to wade through a bunch of introduction. I get a lot of email, so please be understanding of that.
I love to read new web business-related things, especially when they’re based around customer support, churn, growth and retention.
I like meeting people at conferences. I’m not super outgoing by nature, so I’ve been actively trying to get better at it by talking to everyone I can at conferences. I’m super easy to spot: I’m the black guy with glasses. Come up and introduce yourself, if I don’t introduce myself first! I’d love to know what you’re working on. I’ve discovered so many cool businesses out there that are hiding in plain sight, and I’ve made great friends by just talking to people.
So, if you’d like to chat… Email me or tweet at me. I’d love to hear from you. I’m happy to chat over email or Twitter. No video calls though, those derail my day too much.
